Mrs. Maxie Mash Severt, age 91, of West Jefferson died Sunday evening, September 6, 2009 at her daughter's home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Miller and Rev. Russell Sheets officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00pm on Wednesday, prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Severt was born in Ashe County on Friday, October 12, 1917 to the late Vonley Houston and Maida Severt Mash. She retired from Sprague Electric Company. She was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth Leonard Severt and Bill Severt. She is survived by a daughter, Nell Gwen Mock and husband Jack, of West Jefferson; a brother, Fred Mash of Glendale Springs; two sisters, Connie McNeill of West Jefferson and Myrtle Haynes of Concord; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews also survive.
