Obituary of Thelma Emaline Stroud

Thelma Severt Stroud (Better known as Granny) 1927-2019 Mrs. Thelma Severt Stroud, age 91, of Wilkesboro, formerly of Ashe County passed away Saturday morning, January 12, 2019 at Wilkes Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 3:00pm at Obids Baptist Church with Rev. Evan Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00pm on Sunday, January 20, 2019 one hour prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Stroud was born in Ashe County on June 1, 1927 to the late William Auther and Ada Bare Severt. She retired from Hanes (Sara Lee) after 32 years of service. She was a member of Glendale Springs Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading her Bible, word search puzzles and crocheting dishcloths. She loved spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly. She also enjoyed cooking and baking ham biscuits for the Northwest Trading Post. She will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant twin sons, three brothers, Bland Severt, Jess Severt and Dean Severt. Two sisters-in-law, Helen Severt and Julie Severt and a granddaughter-in-law, Tonya Cline. Mrs. Stroud is survived by two daughters, Linda Taylor and husband, Larry, of Glendale Springs and Angela Cline, of Glendale Springs; four grandchildren, Leslya Phipps and husband, Dennis, of Wilkesboro, Larry Shane Taylor and wife, Mandy, of North Wilkesboro, Emily Colvard, of Lexington, NC and Jason Cline, of Mouth of Wilson, VA; seven great-grandchildren, Kayla Moore and husband, Evan, of Fleetwood, Nikki Harless and husband, Derek, of Wilkesboro, Ricky Barnes, Sierra Barnes, Brendon Colvard, all of Lexington, NC, Christopher Cline and Wyatt Cline, of Mouth of Wilson, VA; three great, great-grandchildren, Ava Moore, Levi Moore and Vance Moore, all of Fleetwood; a sister-in-law, Mildred Severt, of Statesville; several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be appreciated. The family will be meeting at the home of Linda Taylor at 156 Hamilton Lane in Glendale Springs.
