Mr. Garry Mitchell McMillan, age 65, of Jefferson passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 12:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fontrina Wray officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00pm on Tuesday, January 22, 2019; one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. McMillan was born in Ashe County to the late Teb Roberts and Julia Ellen McMillan Poe. He worked at United Chemi-Con for 25 years. Garry was a really hard worker. He loved his family and friends. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Howard Poe; which was the one that raised him for most of his life. Mr. McMillan is survived by: two sons, Garry "Michael" McMillan and wife, Debra, of Winston-Salem and Steven McMillan, of Winston-Salem; a brother Greg Poe and wife, Wendy, of Glendale Springs; a sister, Pam Munday, of Hickory; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
