Mr. Billy George Severt, better known as Bill, age 67, of West Jefferson, died Wednesday morning, September 9, 2009 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 3:00 pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Calvin Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Severt Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-3:00pm on Friday, September 11, 2009, three hours prior to the funeral service. Mr. Severt was born in Ashe County on Saturday, May 30, 1942 to the late John Gaither and Saddie Mash Severt. He was a member of the Glendale Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Bill enjoyed working outdoors and running his dozer. He is survived by his wife, Lula Cox Severt; two daughters, Lisa Severt, of West Jefferson and Tammy Howell and husband, Glenn, of West Jefferson; two sisters, Marie Miller and husband, Jonas, of West Jefferson and Mamie Turner and husband, Everette, of Germanton, NC; two grandchildren; a great grandchild; several nieces and nephews also survive.
