Mr. Raymond Weldon Bare, age 77, of West Jefferson passed away Monday, March 4, 2019 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 2:00pm at Obids Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Harless and Rev. Tom Graybeal officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm on Thursday, March 7, 2019; two hours prior to the funeral service at the church. Mr. Bare was born in Ashe County on August 26, 1941 to the late Weldon Roscoe and Hazel Lee Burgess Bare. He was a Dairy and Cattle Farmer. He enjoyed fishing and doing wood working is his spare time. But most of all he loved his grandchildren and spending time with them. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother; he will be missed by all. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Marie Bare. Mr. Bare is survived by his wife, of 59 years of marriage, Margaret Lewis Bare; a son, Tony Bare and wife, Lisa, of Navarre, Florida; two daughters, Kelley Bare-Blevins and husband, Ronnie, of West Jefferson and Karin Bare and Bryan, of West Jefferson; a sister, Anna Ray Miller, of West Jefferson; two brothers, Dean Bare and wife, Mary, of West Jefferson and Charles Bare and wife, Betty, of Rutherfordton, NC; five grandchildren, Jordan Bare, Meghan Blevins, Leanna Blevins, Madison Bare and Sophia Bare; a furry friend, Daisy; several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Obids Baptist Church Cemetery, c/o Karin Bare, 1325 Old Obids Road, West Jefferson, NC 28694. The family requests if you would like to bring food please bring it to the fellowship hall at the church for a meal after the funeral service.
