Mr. Billy Joe Severt, age 73, of Jefferson, died Monday, March 4, 2019 at Margate Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be held at a later date. Mr. Severt was born on December 6, 1945 in Ashe County to the late Mary Lea Severt. Billy served in the United States Army, and also owned the Meadow Creek Dry Cleaners. He had a lively personality and always made people around him laugh. Billy is survived by one son; Brian Severt of Deep Gap, two brothers; Tony Severt of Lenoir and Benny Severt and wife Donna of Jefferson, one sister; Janet Hart of Jefferson; a half-sister, Tammy Eldreth, of Morganton; three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
