Mr. Dannie James Barker, age 61, of Lansing passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at his residence. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 1:30pm at Mt. Jefferson Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Casey officiating. Mr. Barker was born in Ashe County to the late Joseph (Joe) Alfred Barker and Barbara Sue Atwood Barker. He was a maintenance work for farm equipment. He was an excellent mechanic. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and watching Nascar. He was a loving fiancé, son and father; he will be missed by all. Dannie is survived by his fiancé, Barbara Frye of the home; two sons, Justin Barker and wife, Kenzie, of Jefferson and Austin Lewis, of Lansing; his mother, Barbara Barker, of Crumpler; three sisters, Linda Moya, of Crumpler, Alice Miller, of West Jefferson and Rebecca Barker, of Crumpler; four brothers, Warren Barker, of West Jefferson, Steven Barker, of West Jefferson, Jessie Barker, of Hayes and Bruce Barker, of West Jefferson; two grandchildren; Emily Pritchard and Megan Pritchard; several nieces and nephews also survive.
