Mrs. Ruth Ann Testerman Blackburn, age 91, of Jefferson passed away Thursday morning, April 4, 2019 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Baptist Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Saturday; one hour prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Blackburn was born in Ashe County on May 1, 1927 to the late Omer and Bessie Hoosier Testerman. Ruth enjoyed needle pointing, sewing and quilting. She was known for her outstanding cooking especially her "biscuits". She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and read her Bible daily. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Darrell Blackburn after 24 years of marriage; seven brothers, Walt Testerman, Ford Testerman, Bill Testerman, Wayne Testerman, Carrol Testerman, Sam Testerman and Pete Testerman; three sister, Nona Hart, Denton Spencer and Ellen Graybeal. Mrs. Blackburn is survived by: a sister, Lorraine Testerman of West Jefferson; a special nephew, Mike McClure and wife, Debbie of Jefferson; several nieces and nephews also survive.
