Mrs. Delma Raye Roten Day, better known as "Raye" age 101 of Jefferson passed away Saturday afternoon, April 6, 2019 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 11:00am at Peak Creek Cemetery with Rev. Roger Wagoner officiating. Mrs. Day was born in Ashe County on February 3, 1918 to the late Hillary and Lucy Sheets Roten. She worked as a manager of a Brownhill Ladies Retail Store in Greensboro, NC. She enjoyed working in her flowers and gardening. Raye was always as "hard worker". Mrs. Day is survived by: a son, Harry Davis, of Jefferson; a daughter, Xandra Byham, of Raleigh; a brother, Harold Black and wife Edith, of Laurel Springs; a special friend, Gladys Davis, of Jefferson; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews also survive.
