Mr. Joseph Claude Woods, better known as JC, age 75, of Creston passed away Wednesday evening, April 17,2019 at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Graybeal and Rev. Mike Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Roten-Graybeal Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm on Saturday, April 20, 2019; two hours prior to the funeral service. Mr. Woods was born in Ashe County on November 12, 1943 to the late James Claude and Ruth Ashley Woods. J.C. was a hard-working man; he worked several years at Sprague Electric, after that he opened Wood's Grocery in Warrensville. Later in years, he retired from Ashe County School System, where he worked as a custodian at Blue Ridge Elementary School. He raised Christmas tree and cattle in his spare time. One thing J.C. loved to do was spend time with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather; he will be missed by all. He was also preceded in death by a younger sister, Sandy. Mr. Woods is survived by his wife, of 55 years of marriage, Francis Roten Woods; a son, Richard Woods ad wife, Gina, of Creston; a daughter, Angie Colvard and fiancé, Terry Church, of West Jefferson; two sisters, Wanda Lyle and husband, Bill, of Charlotte and Peggy Brown and husband, Bill, of West Jefferson; three grandchildren, Laken Miller and husband, Zac, of Crumpler; Samantha Woods and Katie Woods, both of Creston; several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Roten-Graybeal Cemetery, 264 Ridgewood Road, Deep Gap, NC 28618. The family will be meeting at the home place at 780 Three Top Road in Creston.
