Obituary of Arvil Ramon Baker
Arvil Ramon Baker August 18, 1938 - April 22, 2019 Arvil Ramon Baker, age 80, of Fleetwood died Monday, April 22nd, 2019 at Margate Health & Rehab. Arvil was born August 18th, 1938 in Wilkes County to the late William Taft and Virgie Church Baker. Growing up on a small farm, he was one of eight children. At a young age, he helped his father transport milk from local farms to Kraft Foods which led to his 23 years employment at the cheese factory. In 1964, he met and married his loving and devoted wife, Joyce Graybeal. They soon had a daughter, Teresa and four years later a son, Jerry. Arvil continued his working career as a 17 years employee of the Ashe County Board of Education before retiring in 2004. Arvil enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, playing Rook, watching westerns, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Arvil was preceded in death by four brothers, Wiley "Austin" Baker, Charles "Dean" Baker, Cline Allen Baker, and William "Glen" Baker.
Arvil is survived by his wife, Joyce Graybeal Baker, one daughter Teresa and husband Kenny Spencer of Fleetwood and their children Ethan and Makayla Spencer, one son Jerry and wife Stephanie Baker of Fleetwood and their children Tafton and Ceanna Baker. Arvil is also survived by one brother Arvin and wife Janice of Alabama, two sisters Arlene and husband Gale Goodman of Waynesville, NC and Ima Lee and husband Ray Golds of Fleetwood. Arvil is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 24th at Laurel Springs Baptist Church in Deep Gap at 3:00 pm. ?Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
