Obituary of Jewel Lavana Cockerham

Miss Jewel Lavana Cockerham, better known as “Lavana” age 89, of Crumpler passed away Saturday night, May 11, 2019 at Margate Health & Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 11am at Senter Primitive Baptist Church with Elder John Jackson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 from 10-11 at Senter Primitive Baptist Church.

Mrs. Cockerham was born in Ashe County, North Carolina on November 18, 1929 to the late Troy Joshua and Margaret Bare Cockerham. She was a member of Senter Primitive Baptist Church. Lavana enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, and making hook rugs.

She was also preceded in death by one brother; Truett Cockerham, and two sisters; Virginia Hudler and Clara Miller.

Mrs. Cockerham is survived by five nephews.
