Obituary of Lester Wayne Church

Mr. Lester Wayne Church, age 97, of Piney Creek, passed away Friday morning, May 24, 2019 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 10am at Cranberry Cemetery with military rites.

Mr. Church was born in Ashe County on March 21, 1922 to the late David and Margaret Hall Church. Lester was a cattle beef farmer, dairy farmer, and also tobacco farmer. He also enjoyed his gardening. Lester was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and will be missed by all.

He is preceded in death by a son; Joe Wayne Church, two sisters; Ethel Blevins and Edna Presnell, five brothers; Jim, Barnett, Roy, Guy, and Willie Church.

Mr. Church is survived by; his wife, Juantia Church; one son, John Church and wife Brenda of Independence, VA; four grandchildren, Allen Church of Piney Creek, John Church II of Galax, VA, Kenny Church of West Jefferson, and Pam Adkins of Sparta, NC, seven great grandchildren; numerous great - great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the Cranberry Cemetery.
