Obituary of Carl Herbert Phillips

Mr. Carl Herbert Phillips, age 90, of West Jefferson passed away Tuesday morning, June 4, 2019 at Forest Ridge Assisted Living.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 8:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve LeaShomb officiating. Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 3pm at Phillips-Burkett Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7:00-8:00pm; one hour prior to the funeral service.

Mr. Phillips was born in Ashe County on January 6, 1929 to the late Paul and Mary McNeill Phillips. Carl enjoyed fishing and working on his farm. He was very loved and will be greatly missed.

He was also preceded in death by a son; Dwight Phillips.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Sheets Phillips; one son, Darrell Phillips and wife Joyce of West Jefferson, three daughters; Sandy Blevins and husband Steve of Crumpler, Twyla Smith and husband John of West Jefferson, and Kathy Phillips of West Jefferson, one brother; Johnny Phillips and wife Doris of Jefferson, four sisters; Hazel Bare of Crumpler, Betty Bare of Gastonia, Darlene Phillips of Jefferson, and Blanche Brown and husband Robert of West Jefferson, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Phillips Burkett Memorial Gardens, 2477 Mt. Jefferson Road, West Jefferson, NC 28694.

The family will be meeting at the homeplace, 1417 Nettle Knob Road in West Jefferson or at Sandy Blevins at 384 Clearview Ridge Road in Crumpler.
