Ronnie was born in Ashe County on November 6, 1946 to the late, Archie and Lora Miller Severt. In his early years he was an avid NASCAR fan; Dale Earnhardt being his favorite driver. His friends still talk about the cars he owned, mostly the Chevelle's. They were the sweetest, fastest rides in town on Saturday night.

Ronnie was the perfect country gentleman. He would always help a friend or neighbor any way he could; making friends wherever he went. He was a devoted son and loved his mother dearly. Their special bond lasted until her death in 2014.

He was truly a role model for those around him. Always striving to live by the golden rule and being good to everyone; even to those who were not good to him. His work ethic was to be admired and he would always go the extra mile to get the job done. Ronnie worked as a lineman for Wilkes Telephone and retired from Skyline Telephone in 2006. Ronnie's work was his passion. Working as a lineman in several states for almost fifty years; Ronie was especially proud of his role in providing telephone service to the Eskimo Villages in Alaska.

Farming and working the land, growing abundant crops was the love of his life. He operated a cow-calf operation, specializing in the Charleais and Braunveih breeds. Fishing was on his mind but work was always his priority.

So, lets remember Ronnie for being a steward of the land, for being a friend you could count on, for being gentle and kind.

Ronnie was preceded in death by two brothers, Allen Severt and Raymond Severt; two sisters-in-law, Darlene Severt and Brenda Severt.

Mr. Severt is survived by: two sisters, Penny Jones and husband, Mike, of Jefferson and Wilma Trivette, of Piney Creek; five brothers, Gary Severt and wife, Judy, of Wilkesboro, Larry Severt and wife, Nancy, of Wilkesboro, Russell Severt, of West Jefferson, Jerry Severt, of Lansing and Perry Severt and wife, Angela, of Jefferson; a dear friend, Sue Phillips of West Jefferson and her son, David and his wife, Mimi Phillips and granddaughter, Hannah, of Tampa, FL; several nieces and nephews, Bryant and Tyler Jones, of Jefferson, Jason Severt, Amber Staley and Ashley Caldwell, all of Wilkesboro, Justin Severt and Marcus Severt, both of Lansing, John Severt, of West Jefferson, Terry Severt, of Laurel Springs, Rusty Severt, of West Jefferson and Amy Gregory, of North Wilkesboro; several great nieces and nephews also survive.
