Mrs. Judy Marie Hurley Neaves, age 76, of West Jefferson passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 2:00pm at North Beaver Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Miller and Rev. David Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in the McNeill Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm on Wednesday; two hours prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Neaves was born in Ashe County on September 18, 1942 to the late Oscar and Julie Severt Hurley. She worked at Jefferson Apparel for several years. She was a member of North Beaver Baptist Church. Judy enjoyed working in her flower garden and she also loved her dogs and cats. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Edith Cook; four brothers, Raymond Hurley, Bryce Hurley, Jack Hurley and Max Hurley. Mrs. Neaves is survived by: her husband, of 54 years of marriage, Bob Neaves; three sisters, Ruby Cox of Pilot Mountain, NC, Willa Gray Bauer and husband, Jeff, of Winston-Salem, NC and Barbara Hurley, of Jefferson; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will be meeting at the home place at 200 Tom McNeill Road in West Jefferson.
