I always thought Ory was a very special boy when I worked with him at Bethany. He asked me for years to do the Bible School puppet and I finally let him when he turned 12 or 13. What I so loved about Ory was how much joy he got from performing and making others happy. It wasn't about attention-getting, it was all about giving of himself to others. He had so much confidence in himself, too. I can't imagine a world with Ory in it. My heart is absolutely broken and I know so many others feel that way, too. My love and thoughts are with you all.

Even as a little child he was very observant and tuned in to what would make other people happy. I got a sleep shirt from the Owens family one year for Christmas and Mary told me Ory picked it out for me himself (he was about 8) because "Jenny likes cats." You had such a generous heart, Little Cousin, and you will be terribly missed.

Ory has always been one of those people, that even though you don't see him often, you just picked up where you left off and had a great conversation. I remember a few years ago, I hesitantly walked into a get together, looking for someone to talk to, and there was Ory. I was so glad to see him and immediately went to talk to him and catch up.
Some children are so hard to have a conversation with, not Ory. He could always sit with the adults and hold his own. I only wish that he could know how much brightness his laughter and sweet personality brought to others.

Ory aka “Oreo” was one amazing friend in high school. I enjoyed hearing his stories and seeing his photography work in photography class. He was the best at photography in the class in my opinion. Ory was patient with me as he taught me a few of his techniques.
I will never forget Ory as the years pass on. He was always a happy and fun person when I was around him.

My heart breaks for you my dear cousins. There are no words that take away the pain of losing a child, for the world does not prepare a parent to bury their children. It is supposed to be the other way around. But God in His infinite love can and will bring comfort...for He knows and understands our pain... He not only experienced the death of His Son, but also the agony of willingly giving his Son over to death because of His great love for us. So as you celebrate Ory’s earthly life also celebrate his new heavenly life with the peace that passes all understanding because our Father promised He would be our comforter in these verses.

When I heard the news all I could do was sit in shock, I felt like I had lost a best friend. Even though I only knew Ory for the span of Gypsy, he was without a doubt my favorite stage manager I had ever, ever worked with. He had such a light-hearted manner about him and he was always laughing behind the scenes of one of the best productions I’ve ever seen or been in. He took the time to explain how the sets needed to be moved so calmly and often with a small joke within his description, when any of us needed help he was there to lend whatever hand we needed, and most importantly he loved what he did with the theatre. He did what he loved and he did it very, very well. I can honestly say that he made that show a million and one times brighter on a daily basis, his presence was bright and carefree just to be around and especially to work with. He was one of the most beautiful people I have ever met, and he will forever hold a place in my mind and heart. Rest easy my theatrical friend, may you be blessed on your journey to wherever your blessed and beautiful heart desires. ❤️

I'm truly sorry for your loss. I was once in a play with Ory and he was such a sweet and happy go lucky boy. Years later he became stage manager and I remember telling him how proud I was for him.
