Mr. George Turrell Gentry, better known as "Tobe", age 91 of Jefferson passed away Saturday night, November 9, 2019at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 7:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phil Arnold officiating. Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 1:00pm at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with full military rites. The family receive friends on Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 5:00-7:00pm; two hours prior to the funeral service. Mr. Gentry was born in Maben, West Virginia on January 6, 1928 to the late Floyd Franklin and Betha Irene Lewis Gentry. Tobe retired from the United States Army after serving in World War II, Korean and Vietnam Conflict. He was a devoted member of Smethport Baptist Church. Tobe was always trying to help and care for others and was a dedicated member of the DAV and VFW; always on military funerals when his health would allow him. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Zach Gentry; three brothers, John Gentry, Joe Gentry and Winfred Gentry. Mr. Gentry is survived by: a son, Mark Gentry and wife, Pam, of Colorado; a daughter, Teresa Woodie and husband, Bob, of Crumpler; two sisters, Imajean Stevens, of Jefferson and Wanda Jones, of Kernersville; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
