Mr. Charles Edward Osborne, better known as "Ed", age 86, of Grassy Creek passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis Blevins and Rev. Dennis Poe officiating. Private graveside services will be held. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 1, 2019 from 1:00-2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Osborne was born in Ashe County on June 23, 1933 to the late Lee and Rose Woods Osborne. He worked as a carpenter most of his life. He enjoyed doing wood working; making birdhouses. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather; he will be missed by all. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Eldreth Osborne; a brother, Jessie Osborne; four sisters, Pearl Jones, Mary Lyalls, Betty Severt and Margaret McCoy. Mr. Osborne is survived by: a son, Rev. Steve Osborne and wife, Sherry, of West Jefferson; two brothers, Bud Osborne and wife, Wanda, of Lansing and Bill Osborne, of Creston; a sister, Pauline Lynch and husband, Arvie, of Lansing; two grandchildren, Melissa Bennett, of West Jefferson and Stephanie McNeill and husband, James, of Piney Creek; three great-grandchildren, Jada Bennett, of West Jefferson, Ava McNeill, of Piney Creek and Ali McNeill of Piney Creek; a special niece, Tammy Gardner and husband, Scott, of Lansing; several nieces and nephews also survive.
