Mr. Harold James Hurley, better known as "Bubba" age 69, of West Jefferson passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2020 night at his home. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Goodman and Rev. Dave Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Calloway Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 6:00-8:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Hurley was born in Ashe County, North Carolina on November 21, 1950 to the late Bryce and Josephine Mullis Hurley. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam. Bubba enjoyed fishing on his bass boat with his friends. He loved his Harley Davidson and rode for 41 years. He retired from Gates Rubber Company and he also worked at Bassett-Walker for 28 years as a sewing machine mechanic. He is preceded in death by one brother; Billy Hurley. He is survived by his wife of 12 years; Linda Cole Hurley, two sons; Justin Hurley and companion Jennifer Barker of Crumpler, and Domanique Medrano and companion Rayna Walker of West Jefferson, one daughter; Julie Hurley Mobley of Wilkesboro, one step-daughter; Jessica Billing of Oregon, two brothers; George Hurley and wife Judy of Crumpler, and Benny Hurley and wife Vickie of West Jefferson, one sister; Ruth Neaves and companion Jerry Atwood of Lansing, two grandchildren; Britney Hurley and Cannan Carpenter, one great-grandchild, Taylon Blevins, 6 step grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive, and his beloved companion dog, Brownie.
