Obituary of Curtis Wade Miller

Mr. Curtis Wade Miller, age 72, of Laurel Springs passed away Thursday evening, February 19, 2020 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 3pm at the Mt. Carmel Church of Brethren on Hwy 221 in Scottsville with Rev. Tom Miller and Pastor Dale Baugus officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurel Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends on Sunday one hour prior to the services. Mr. Miller was born in Ashe County on August 12, 1947 to the late Dean and Oza Clara Cockerham Miller. Curtis served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and served his community as fire chief at the Laurel Springs Volunteer Fire Department. He was a deacon and member at Mt. Carmel Church of the Brethren. Two months out of the year, Curtis enjoyed fishing with his wife Elaine in Florida. He was a loving husband, father, and will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife; Elaine Triplett Miller, two daughters; Christy Dawn Edwards and husband Brian of Elkin, and Kelly Renia Miller Farmer and husband Joel of Clayton, one brother; Darrell Lee Miller of Virginia, and several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Laurel Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Everette Elliott, 149 Roberts Road, Laurel Springs, NC 28644.
