Mr. Harold Kay Blackburn, age 75, of Crumpler, died Thursday night, October 15, 2009 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at 5:00pm at New River Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Jones and Rev. Billy Joe Blevins officiating with military rites. The family will receive friends from 4:00-5:00pm on Sunday, one hour prior to the memorial service. Mr. Blackburn was born in Ashe County on Wednesday, October 25, 1933 to the late Solomon Cicero and Eula Brooks Blackburn. He served in the United States Army. He was the Parts Manager at Complete Auto Parts Store. He was a member of New River Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Pugh Blackburn; a son, Tony Blackburn and wife, Debbie, of Crumpler; three daughters, Mona Blevins and husband, David, of Grassy Creek, Edwina Parsons and husband, Perry, of West Jefferson and Heather Holdaway and husband, Jason, of West Jefferson; eleven grandchildren, Jessica Blackburn, Vanessa Holiday, Sarah Blackburn, Mark Blackburn, Andy Blevins, Mikael Blevins, Zach Blevins, Brittany Parsons, Taylor Parsons, Cypress Taylor and Lincoln Holdaway; three step grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
