Mr. Joseph Todd Canter, better known as “JT”, age 71 of Creston, lost is battle to cancer on Thursday morning, July 9, 2020 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at 2pm at Valley Home Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Holmes, Rev. Charlie McCoy, and Pastor Frankie Rash officiating. Burial will follow in the Rash Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 1-2pm at Valley Home Baptist Church on Sunday. Mr. Canter was born in Ashe County on November 9, 1948 to the late Odell and Stella Mae Eller Canter. JT was a hard worker and enjoyed hunting ginseng. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and will be missed by all. He is preceded in death by a son; Joey Canter, and a grandson; Justin Canter. JT is survived by his wife; Barbara Greer Canter, one daughter; Hope Canter Guy of Jefferson, one son; Levi Canter of the home, two brothers; Marvin Canter of West Jefferson and Carter Canter of Creston, one sister; Iva Dean Baldwin of Crumpler, four grandchildren; Samantha Canter, Maddie Guy, Dustin Guy, and Kevin Guy, five great-grandchildren; Gavin Teaster, Noah Carpenter, Jasmine Guy, Iassac Guy, and Addison Guy, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
