Mrs. Jo Ann Sturgill Hart, age 82, of Lansing passed away Wednesday night, August 5, 2020. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Grubb, Rev. Lloyd Day and Speaker Edward Sturgill officiating. A private burial will follow. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Hart was born in Ashe County on August 10, 1937 to the late Charlie Ray and Vivian June Testerman Sturgill. Jo Ann attended Sturgill Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning but most of all she loved her family. She was a loving mother, and grandmother; she will be missed by all. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Shane Walton; two brothers, Jimmy Sturgill and Don Sturgill. Mrs. Hart is survived by: a son, Alan Hart, of Troutdale, Virginia; three daughters, Trish Bledsoe, of Jefferson, Sandy Lewis, of Wilkesboro and Debbie Dollar, of Warrensville; four brothers, Johnny Sturgill, of Wilkesboro, Joe Sturgill, of Kingsport, TN, Charles Sturgill, of Independence, Virginia and Howard Sturgill, of Hillsville, Virginia; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
