Mr. Marlin Earl Sheets, age 81, of Creston, died Sunday night, October 25, 2009 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 7:30pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Hess officiating. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 10:00am at the Perry Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30pm on Tuesday, prior to the funeral service. Mr. Sheets was born in Ashe County on Wednesday, April 18, 1928 to the late James Ellis Sheets and Inis Elizabeth Mahala Wallace Sheets. He served in the United States Army during Korean, where he received a Purple Heart. He worked at Thomasville Furniture He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Greer Sheets and a son, Jody Sheets. He is survived by four daughters, Patsy Jones and husband, Larry, of Creston, Betty Sheets of Lansing, Penny Workman and husband, Mark, of Lansing and Cindy Lewis of Warrensville; a mother-in-law, Ruth Greer, of Jefferson; two sisters, Loyce Clark and husband, Kermit, of Lansing and Joyce Woolridge of West Virginia; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
