Clifton Clay Dillard, age 89 of Jefferson passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at 3pm at Orion Baptist Church with Rev. Lawrence Goodman, Rev. Larry Powers, and close friend Rev. David Sexton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state from 2-3pm at Orion Baptist Church on Sunday. He was born in Ashe County on July 17, 1931 to the late Arthur and Ruth Dillard. He enjoyed spending time with his family and riding his tractor. He was always telling stories from his childhood days, and being outdoors and tinkering on his mustang and anything he had. He is preceded in death by his parents; Arthur and Ruth Dillard, his brothers; Blaine Dillard, Harold Dillard, and Herbert Dillard, grandson; Joshua Dillard, a daughter; Karen Cummings, and step grandson; Michael Eldreth. Clifton is survived by his wife of 67 years; Doris Trivette Dillard, two sisters; Barbara Phillips of Concord, and Peggy Powers and husband Larry of Jefferson, five children; Wanda Dillard of Jefferson, Walter Dillard and wife Karen of Jefferson, Robert Dillard and wife Lena of Jefferson, Randal Dillard and wife Susie of Jefferson, Sandra Dillard of Jefferson, ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will be meeting at the homeplace, 233 E Z Sexton Road, Jefferson, NC 28640.
