Mr. Tommy Ray Dillard, better known as “Tom” age 81, of West Jefferson passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 1, 2020 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Elder James McNeill officiating. Burial will follow in the Dillard Cemetery. The body will lie in state on Friday from 1-2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Tom was born in Ashe County on December 3, 1938 to the late Bill and Carrie Miller Dillard. Tom was a great outdoors man; hunting, fishing, gardening, horses, and he also enjoyed watching his favorite Nascar driver Dale Earnhardt. Mr. Dillard is survived by his wife; Sue Johnson Dillard, four sons; Allen Dillard and wife Glenda of West Jefferson, Jeff Dillard and Patti of West Jefferson, Steve Dillard and wife Tina of West Jefferson, and Keith Dillard and wife Teshia of Todd, one brother; Wade Dillard of Boone, one sister; Agnus Johnson of West Jefferson, fifteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
