My sincerest condolences. I always loved taking my great-grandmother "Ma Phillips" to visit with Burrell and Helen. It was always a treat going to their house and seeing her garden. Prayers for you Sister and Tom.

Helen and Burrell lived across the "hill" from us when we were growing up. We lived across the road from Paul and Hazel. Both Helen and Burrell were always so good to us. I've had many of those wonderful tomatoes and beans they grew.
Sis I have you in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

I have many wonderful memories of times visiting Uncle Burrell and Aunt Helen. From fishing in the pond, making molasses, to walking the hills checking on the cows. They took care of me throughout college when I came to Ashe County on weekends. So, I didn't wear out my welcome, I would switch up which aunt and uncle I would visit for the weekend. Always felt welcomed by all. Aunt Helen always fixed me pork tenderloins, scrambled eggs and delicious biscuits for breakfast. I also spent a week on Burrell and Helen's couch when the horse fell on me and I couldn't walk. I will always remember how wonderful it felt for Helen to wash my hair in a bucket while I was laying on the couch! Aunt Helen was a kind, talented, hard working women that I am so happy to have had in my life. I will miss her.

I remember Aunt Helen and Uncle Burrell making molasses. Aunt Helen was always smiling, always cheerful. She had a delightful chuckle and was a blessing to so many. She will be missed. We are praying for you, Sister and Tom.

As I write with tears, I remember Helen and Burrell's home as a place where we were always welcomed, loved, fed, and likely entertained. I'm sure that I am only one of many who will remember her this way.
