Mrs. Debra Jane Cox, age 60 of Jefferson passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020 at her residence. Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Mrs. Cox was born in Ashe County on September 22, 1960 to the late Elsworth and Mary Kelley Cox. She was a member at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. Debra enjoyed crafting, painting, gardening, and watching her favorite older shows. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and will be missed by all. She is also preceded in death by a sister; Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Walker, a brother; Clinton “Buddy” Cox, Jr., and a daughter; Marie Dawn Poe. Mrs. Cox is survived by two daughters; Elaine Kearley and husband Chris of Jefferson, and Heather Cox and husband Jonathan of Grassy Creek, one sister; Barbara “Barbie” Preece and husband Jerry of Lenoir, three grandchildren; Josiah, Faith, and Hope Cox, and several nephews also survive.
