Van and I served in Berlin from 1975 to 1978. Both of us special Agents in the CI field; specializing in counterespionage. We ere also friend and took vacations together. I am shocked to learn of his passing. I am sending word to our British counterparts, with whom I still have contact.

Van has always reminded me of Theodore Roosevelt’s "The Man in the Arena".
