Mrs. Verna Lee McNeill Miller, age 82, of Jefferson passed away Saturday morning, March 20, 2021 at Foley Center in Blowing Rock. She suffered a long battle with Parkinson disease. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Pastor David Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in the George Miller Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 1:00-2:00pm on Tuesday; one hour prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Miller was born in Ashe County on September 30, 1938 to the late Thomas Gaither and Beulah Pearl Barker McNeill. Verna worked at Roses and retired from Wal-Mart. She enjoyed gardening and cooking all of the crops she had grown. She is preceded in death by her husband; George Dennis Miller, a brother; Willard McNeill. Verna is survived by a son; Terry Absher and wife Lisa, of Jefferson, three daughters; Sarah Blevins and husband Joe Mike of Crumpler, Denise Moser and husband Richie, of Jefferson and Linda Holman and husband Greg, of Jefferson, four grandchildren; Laura Lipford and husband Greg of Jefferson, Brandon Blevins and wife Kahryn of Jefferson, Ryan Blevins of Crumpler, Lyndsi Holman and fiancé Jake Richardson of Jefferson, a great-grandson; Rett Blevins, one soon-to-be great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews also survive, two special friends; Maynard Stuart of Jefferson and Louise Hash of Jefferson, and her dog; Daisy. Pallbearers will be Joe Mike Blevins, Ryan Blevins, Brandon Blevins, Richie Moser, Greg Holman, and Jake Richardson.
