Mrs. Emma Lea Lillard Day, better known as "Toots" age 82 of Jefferson passed away Monday night, March 29, 2021 at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home with Rev. Mitchell Mash, Tyler Richardson and Rev. Frank Woods officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1-2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Day was born in Ashe County on May 21, 1938 to the late Charles Bradley and Bessie Mahaffey Lillard. She retired from United Chemicon, after 42 years. She was a faithful member of Peace Haven Community Church. Toots enjoyed traveling and she had a deep love for her animals; especially for her dog, Bingo. She was a devoted mother and grandmother; she will be deeply missed. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell Lloyd Day on May 31, 2006; a brother, Jay Lillard; a sister, Viola Jones. She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Dollar, of Ellenboro and Angie Blevins and husband, Montie, of Jefferson; a sister, Mary Logan; four grandchildren, Amber Miller and Brad Miller and wife, Jeannie, all of Ellenboro, NC; Brandon Taylor, of Jefferson and Josh Taylor, of Sparta, NC; three grandchildren, Tony Miller of Ellenboro, NC, Timothy Miller, of Evansville, IN and Ashton Shepherd, of Franklin, NC; two step grandchildren, Cassie Shaw and husband, Matt, of Sparta, NC and Andrea Morgan and husband, Ben, of Winston-Salem, NC; four step great-grandchildren, Evan Morgan and Grayson Morgan, of Winston-Salem, Soloman Shaw and Bryer Shaw; several nieces and nephews also survive.
