Mrs. Laura Marie Owen McCoy, age 50 of North Wilkesboro, formerly of Ashe County ended her journey here on earth on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at her home. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2021 from 2-6pm at West Jefferson Park the lower shelter. Mrs. McCoy was born in Ashe County on January 31, 1971 to Randall Owen and the late Betty Daughaday Owen. She worked as a CNA at Forest Ridge Assisted Living and her last job was a Wilkes Health & Rehabilitation Center. Laura was always full of love and laughter. Being a mother and grandmother and caring for others was an important part of her life. She had such a big heart and was loved by many; she will be deeply missed. Mrs. McCoy is survived by: a son, Travis McCoy and Catherine, of Tooele, Utah; a daughter, Kayla McCoy and Katelyn, of West Jefferson; her father, Randall Owen of Crumpler; five sisters, Ronda Lawrence and husband, Danny, of Jefferson, Teresa Mann, of Crumpler, Melanie Owen, of Crumpler, Wendi Owen, of Crumpler and Brandy McCoy-Pennington, of West Jefferson; nine grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
