Mrs. Violet Wyatt Hopkins, age 86, of West Jefferson died Thursday morning, December 10, 2009 at Segraves Nursing Care Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 11:00am at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Goodman officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, December 11, 2009 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Hopkins was born in Ashe County on Wednesday, July 25, 1923 to the late Sanford Eliuhue and Mae Larmer Plumber Wyatt. She was a member of Bald Mountain Baptist Church. She was preceded by her husband, William Ambrose Hopkins; a daughter, Phyllis Miller; four brothers, Thomas Earl Wyatt, Clyde Monroe Wyatt, Donald Sanford Wyatt and Ralph Wyatt. Mrs. Hopkins is survived by two sons, Kenneth Hopkins and wife, Gloria, of Burlington and Johnny Hopkins of Morganton; five brothers, Arveson Wyatt and wife, June, of West Jefferson, Robert Wyatt of West Jefferson, Carl Wyatt and wife, Janice, of Patrick Spring, VA, Gwyn Wyatt and wife, Roystene, of Wilmington and Paul Wyatt and wife, Maxine, of Baltimore, MD; three grandchildren, Brian Keith Miller, of West Jefferson, Debbie Miller Davis, of Laurel Springs and Adam Wyatt Hopkins, of Atlanta, GA; two great grandchildren William Zachary Davis and Jeremy Wade Davis; several nieces and nephews also survive.
