Mrs. Irene Elizabeth Houck Hall, age 80, of Jefferson passed away Friday afternoon, December 18, 2009 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 6pm at First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Keith Styron officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00pm, one hour prior to the memorial service. Mrs. Hall was born in Ashe County on Thursday, July 25, 1929 to the late Claude Leonard and Effie Mae Howell Houck. She was a cook in the school system. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Hall; three brothers, Robert Houck, Paul Houck and Ben Houck. She is survived by a son, Randy Hall and his wife, Betty, of Jefferson; a daughter, Nancy Tacker and her husband, Tom, of Ormond Beach, FL; a brother, Carl Houck, of Lansing; four grandchildren, Nikki Tacker, Ben Tacker and Daniel Tacker, all of Ormond Beach, FL and Jenni Hall, of Jefferson; several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
