Mrs. Mary Ward Turner, age 90, of West Jefferson died Thursday morning, December 24, 2009 at Margate Health & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kirby McNeill, Rev. Ambrose Jones and Rev. Clifford Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00pm on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Turner was born in Ashe County on Sunday, October 26, 1919 to the late Roby and Bessie Jones Ward. She retired from Phoenix Chair Company. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Turner. Mrs. Turner is survived by a son, Jack Pennington of West Jefferson; four daughters, Gail Turnmire and husband, Jim, of West Jefferson, Christina Brown and husband, Ray, of Pennsylvania, Cleo Jones, of Warrensville and Jodie Pennington, of West Jefferson; two sisters, Opal Wyatt of Virginia and Ruth Westman, of Pennsylvania; twenty-four grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
