We love you. Please know of our prayers for your family during this sad, difficult time. Hold fast to those warm memories that will keep him close even as you miss him now and in the days and weeks to come. Our family will always be reminded of Mr. Jones each evening when putting up the leftovers after dinner...we always think of Mr. Jones and his "scraps".

Pam, Lois and family,
Please know that our sympathy goes out to your family. We loved Howard and thought of him as one of us. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone. He will be missed by many. Just remember as the angels took Howard from this world with pain and heartaches, he now enjoys a place where there is no pain nor heartaches. May God bless and keep you in the days to come. May you find peace and contintment in God's loving arms.

Howard was my neighbor, deacon in my church and always so very good to me. I remember fondly playing the piano when he was choir director as a teenager. When my date ( who drove a very noisy vehicle) would pull into the church parking lot to pick me up from choir practice, Howard would look over at me, wink and say" Well I guess that's enough practice for tonight. Some of us have other things to do". Many of my childhood memories include Howard, Lois and their family including the shaggy black dog that used to walk to church from their house and then follow them back home.
Mr. Howard was greatly loved and will be missed. What a wonderful life he lived and legacy he leaves behind in three wonderful daughters.
Lois, we are right down the road if you need us- please don't hesitate to let us know what we can do.

Lois we are truly sorry for your loss but we all know Howard is home in heaven with Jesus. The children in my Sunday school class remember when he said "I've been ready" in response to the new church building. I feel he has been right and ready with God for a very long time. We love you and will miss Howard at church. Greg and Cookie

Dear Lois, Pam, Anna Marie and Sherry, I was so shocked to learn of Howard's death; we just joked about getting "medicine" at Wal-Mart a short time ago. Since my childhood, your family have been a part of my family's lives; Howard was always friendly and concerned about us all. He was a good christian man, and I know you are vey proud of the life he lead and the example he set for his family and others. Please know that your sorrow is shared by me, and many more. God bless you all.

Lois, We were out of town last week and Sunday morning at church, I heard someone ask how Howard was. I ask them what was wrong with Howard. When they told me that he had had a stroke, I was so shocked. We have always looked up to you and Howard. He has always been such a strong rock in our church. We always looked forward to shaking hands with him when he walked down the isles. He always had a word and a big smile for everyone. He will be greatly missed. We love you all and are praying for each one of you. May God comfort you and may you feel His arms around you at this difficult time.

I am a friend of Anna Russell's. I have had the honor of working with her at Durham Public Schools until her retirement. I always enjoyed hearing her speak of her parents, lovingly, and was very touched by her dedication to them and her many visits with them. I can only imagine that her parents must be wonderful people, as their daughter, Anna, is a wonderful, sincere person.

Dear Mrs. Jones, When my mom, Edith Childress told me that Mr. Jones had passed away, my first thought was my Dad has company at last! I can't help but think of him as "Howard", my Dad's best friend. I was always so happy when he could stop by when I was in West Jefferson. Please know that you and your family are in my prayers.
Sincerely, Barb Knight

Please accept my sincere condolences upon the loss of a wonderful man, who was steadfast in his dedication to his family, his church, and his community. Howard was one of the pillars of Ashe County, both in business and in community service. My father considered him among his closest friends and I too have always held him in the highest regard. Occasionally, when I would return home, J.D. and I would have breakfast with him and his fellow members of the Hardee's fraternity. It always made me stand a little taller to be recognized by him.
Take comfort in your memories of this fine man, and your conviction that you will be reunited.
Sincerely, and with warm regards,
Jim Boone

Just learned of the loss of your Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend. Howard always greeted folks at Midway Baptist Church, always an encouraging smile, taking time to pay attention to the children and from what I could see a large part of the foundation of this Church. I offer my condolences to all the family and let you know I have been inspired by his life here and give tribute and thanks to his service of this nation under God and his family, neighbors and friends.
I will never forget my Friend that I knew only for a couple years at Midway Baptist Church.
