Mr. Robert Eugene Absher, age 80, of West Jefferson died Tuesday night, February 9, 2010 at Glenbridge Health & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Jay Blevins and Rev. Billy Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. prior to the funeral on Saturday. Mr. Absher was born in Pike County, Kentucky on Wednesday, July 10, 1929 to the late John Andrew and Linda Elliott Absher. He retired from the United States Air Force. He served during the Korean War. He is survived by Ruby Absher, of West Jefferson; a brother, Jack Absher, of Lexington, KY; four sisters, Geraldine Branham, of Pikeville, KY, Betty Fought, of Waxhaw, NC, Peggy Sowards, of Wyandotte, MI and Susan Khatami, of Anaheim, CA; several nieces and nephews also survive.
