Mr. Glen Bare, age 91, of Jefferson, passed away Monday night, March 22, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 11:00am at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Sonny Thomas, Rev. Jerry Roten and Rev. Russell Sheets officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00pm on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Bare was born in Ashe County on April 13, 1918 to the late Rome and Ida Miller Bare. He was a charter member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. He worked as a carpenter and farmer. He is survived by his wife, Maude Eller Hall Bare, of 68 years; a daughter, Beulah Dixon, of Jefferson; a grandchild, Anita Shew; two great-grandsons, Destin Hall and Cory Shew; a special friend Dean Taylor; several nieces and nephews also survive.
