Gracie Amos Keith died on Friday, March 26, 2010 at her home on Gracie Lane in Laurel Springs, NC after a long bout with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Arlie Keith, a Daughter, Andria Keith, her fianc Danny Morgan, a son Brent Keith, his wife Michelle, two Grand Children, Karoline E. Keith and Jackson B. Keith, three brothers and two sisters. She was originally from Buckingham, Virginia and a member of a large family of 17 brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 7:30pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Lea and Rev. Ken Morris officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30-7:30pm on Tuesday, one hour prior to the memorial service. Gracie spent a life time working with and caring for children, first with her own two children, later with children at her day care center, Wee The People in West Jefferson, North Carolina, then as assistant teacher at the Nathans Creek School and more recently with her two grand children. Gracie was an avid jewelry maker making jewelry for all her friends and frequently selling her jewelry under the name Gracie Lane Designs. Gracie loved music and played the guitar, frequently playing and singing with her children and her many young friends. Gracie loved to take pictures of nature, her small friends and her family. Gracie loved nature and grew flowers of many varieties around her home and caring for the birds that frequented her bird feeders. In 1987 Gracie and her husband Arlie founded and operated General Assembly Corporation, before selling the business in 2005. Gracie's solid support, even temperament, and sound judgment helped to make the business a success. Gracie's beautiful smile, generosity and many skills will be missed by all who knew her. Giving of herself and her resources was what she did and asked for nothing in return.
