Mrs. Annie Ester Houck, age 81, of Todd, the Mill Creek Community, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, October 14, 2008 at Segraves Nursing Care Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 17, 2008 at 2:00pm at Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Brenda Brashears, Rev. Priscilla Walker and Rev. H.D. Houck officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm on Friday, two hours prior to the funeral service at the church. Mrs. Houck was born in Ashe County on Tuesday, August 2, 1927 to the late Fred B. Houck and Ada Sheets Houck. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Clifford Houck on November 7, 2001. She is survived by a son, Arnold Houck of Todd; three daughters, Jane Ellis and husband, Bill, of Maryland, Shirley Holman and husband, Kyle, of Todd and Ruth Stidhams and husband, Roger, of Lansing; a sister, Mary Norris of Boone; five grandchildren, Jennifer Phipps, of Grassy Creek, Jessica Baker, of West Jefferson, Heather Stidhams and Brittany Stidhams, both of Lansing and Chad Ellis, of Maryland; several nieces and nephews also survive.
