Obituary of James Marvin Potter

Mr. James Marvin Potter, Jr., better known as "Jimmy" age 61, of West Jefferson passed away Thursday morning, May 13, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at 2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Graybeal, Rev. Ambrose Jones and Rev. Zane Tester officiating. Burial will follow in the Obids Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30pm on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Potter was born in Watauga County on Friday, September 23, 1948 to the late James Marvin Potter, Sr. and Irene Main Potter. He drove a Concrete Truck. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Roxanne Robinson, of Elkton, MD and a nephew, Rodney Robinson, of Elkton, MD. He is survived by, his wife, Mae Carroll Potter, of the home; a daughter, Tanya Wilson, of Smyrna, Delaware; a step son, Eric Jahns, of Asheville, NC; two step daughters, Amy Hathcock and Lynn Jahns, both of Albemarle, NC; a brother, Jerry Potter, of Elkton, Maryland; four sisters, Eulene Head, of Newark, Delaware, Maxine Ross, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Sue Butler, of Elkton, MD and Peggy Ellis, of Foscoe, NC; two grandchildren; four step grandchildren; a double first cousin and confidant, Dean Potter, of Fleetwood; several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family, c/o Boone Family Funeral Home PO Box 786, West Jefferson, NC 28694.
