Joseph Woods, age 82, of Lansing died Friday, May 21st , 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 25th, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dwight Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery in Lansing. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 25th, 2010 prior to the funeral at the Boone Family Funeral Home. Joseph was born in Ashe County on Friday, October 14, 1927 to the late Rufus and Edna Brooks Woods. He attended the Lansing Presbyterian Church. He is preceded in death by his wife Velda June Woods. Mr. Woods is survived by; one daughter, Louise Ham and husband Roger of Lansing; two sisters, Connie Medley of West Jefferson, Charlotte South of Warrensville. Also surviving are two Grandchildren; Stacey Howell and husband Chris of Lansing, Mat Ham and wife Tina of Lansing, four Great-Grandchildren; Catelyn Howell, Braxton Ham, Luke Rupard, Jackson Ham, all of Lansing, several nieces and nephews also survive.
