Obituary of Lawrence Lee Ham

Mr. Lawrence Lee Ham, age 78, of Crumpler, died Sunday morning, June 6, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Blackburn, Rev. Dennis Blevins and Rev. Scott Courtney officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30pm on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Ham was born in Ashe County on Monday, March 7, 1932 to the late Leonard and Mamie Black Ham. He was an Agricultural Farmer. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael David Hamm; a grandson, Robert Lawrence Hamm, Jr.; three sisters, Maude Hamm, Faye Blackburn and Jean Teaster; three brothers, Earl Ham, Vance Ham and Elmer Ham. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Blackburn Ham, of Crumpler; three sons, Robert Ham and wife, Sue, of Creston, Dale Ham, of Crumpler and Kermit Ham and wife, Rita, of Sparta; three daughters, Karen Jones and husband, Randy, of Grassy Creek, Michelle Baldwin and husband, Robbie, of Crumpler and Erica Kittman, of Crumpler; a brother, Junior Ham, of Port Deposit , MD; two sisters, Viola Church, of Grassy Creek and Irene Pennington and husband, Lawrence, of Aberdeen, MD; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the family, c/o Boone Family Funeral Home, PO Box 786, West Jefferson, NC 28694. Pallbearers are as follow: Christopher Jones, Robert Hamm, Kermit Ham, Lee Ham, Charlie Hamm, Dale Hamm, Michael Hamm, Aaron Testerman, Michael Groves and Jonathan Baldwin.
