James Jackie Phipps, age 72, of Crumpler died Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Johnson City Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Huffman and Rev. Larry Powers officiating. Burial will follow in the Cranberry Cemetery with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 10:00 - 11:00am one hour prior to the funeral service. Mr. Phipps was born in Ashe County on Monday, November 8, 1937 to the late Raymond and Annie Richardson Phipps. He is survived by his wife, Betty Joe Taylor Phipps of Crumpler; one daughter, Sheryl Carson and husband Keith of Crumpler; one brother, Billy Phipps and wife Grace of Crumpler; one grandson, Bryan Carson and wife Hillary of Crumpler; several nieces and nephews also survive.
