Mrs. Ora Mae Greer Welch, age 92, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Wilkes Senior Village Assisted Living. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Denton Hart officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Cemetery in Mountain City, TN. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, June 11, 2010 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Welch was born in Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee on Tuesday, March 19, 1918 to the late Letcher and Emma Joines Greer. She worked in a retail grocery store. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Welch and a daughter, Virginia Smiley. Mrs. Welch is survived by a son, Ralph Welch and wife, Elsie, of Warrensville; a daughter, Juanita Wilson and husband, Richard, of North Wilkesboro; two brothers, Stacey Greer, of Laurel Bloomery, TN and Earl Greer, of Mountain City, TN; a sister, Nellie Greer, of Creston; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three great, great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
