Mr. Lavern Eugene Watson, age 69, of Fleetwood, passed away Thursday morning, June 10, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 8pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Elledge and Rev. Homer Murdock officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00pm on Saturday, June 12, 2010 three hours prior to the funeral service. Mr. Watson was born in Ashe County on Wednesday, January 22, 1941 to the late Eugene and Iris Vannoy Watson. Lavern was a prominent businessman in the town of West Jefferson for 40 years. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Barbara Jean Watson. Mr. Watson is survived by his wife of 50 years, Martha Davis Watson; a son, Jeffery Dale Watson, of Fleetwood; a daughter, Deborah Jordan and husband, Maurice, of West Jefferson; four brothers, Jack Watson and wife, Wilma, of West Jefferson, Rev. Dean Watson, and wife, Shirley, of Fleetwood, Tommy Watson and wife, Joyce, of Zionville and Terry Watson, of Fleetwood; four grandchildren, Cole Jordan, Cody Jordan, Karley Watson and MacKenzie Watson; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.
