Mrs. Martha Mae Orfield Holman, age 97, of West Jefferson passed away Saturday morning, June 12, 2010 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 14, 2010 at 12:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Rash and Rev. Billy Joe Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00pm on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Boone Family Funeral Home Mrs. Holman was born in Abingdon, Virginia on June 4, 1913 to the late Isaac and Minnie R. Amanda White Orfield. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker to fourteen children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Freeman Holman; a son, Jim Holman of Trenton, GA and a grandson, Matthew Holman, of Gundy, VA. She is survived by eight sons Tom Holman and wife, Ann, of Jefferson, Dwight Holman and wife, Mary, of Jefferson, Harold Holman and wife, Clara, of Florida, George Holman and wife, Diane, of Sanford, Wayne Holman and wife, Judy, of Lansing, Mike Holman and wife, Wanda, of Grundy, VA, Kyle Holman and wife, Shirley, of Todd and Robbie Holman and wife, Dana, of Todd; five daughters, Anna Mae Goodman, of Jefferson, Vivian Martin, of Jefferson, Peggy Calloway and husband, Johnny, of West Jefferson, Phyllis Holman, of West Jefferson and Kathy Stansberry, of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Mildred Blaylock, of Bristol, VA, Catheryn Broche, of Elizabethton, TN, Francis Snodgrass, of Bristol, VA; two brothers, Jim Orfield, of Bristol, VA and Harry Orfield, of Meadowview, VA; thirty-six grandchildren; fifty-two great-grandchildren; twenty great, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to express a special thank you to two special caregivers, Brenda Church and Judy Ham. Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the donor's choice. The family will be meeting at the homeplace, 465 Baldwin Road in West Jefferson.
