Mrs. Rose Marie Calhoun Hoosier, age 72, of Creston passed away on Tuesday night, June 22, 2010 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital in Winston Salem. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 2pm at Big Laurel Church of Christ in Christian Union by Rev. Darrell Graybeal, Rev. Lonnie Denny and Rev. Mike Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Calhoun Cemetery in the Big Springs community. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm on Saturday, June 26, 2010, one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Rose was born on Saturday, March 12, 1938 in Ashe County to the late Raymond and Ruth Welch Calhoun. Mrs. Hoosier is survived by two sons, Richard Hoosier and wife Jo, of Mountain City, Tennessee, Eddie Hoosier and wife Sheila, of Creston; one grandson, Derick Hoosier and wife Melissa, of Crumpler; two great grandchildren, Ricky and Logan Hoosier of Crumpler; a special friend, Mabel Roten of Creston. She is preceded in death by her husband, Herman William Hoosier; one sister, Ruby Wood; one brother, Ray Calhoun. The family will be meeting at 3037 Roaring Fork Road, Creston NC 28615.
