Mr. Jessie Lee Osborne, age 78, of Lansing passed away Sunday night, August 29, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 3, 2010 at 2:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Arvie Lynch, Rev. James McNeil, Rev. Steve Osborne and Rev. David Lyalls officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30pm on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mr. Osborne was born in Ashe County on Saturday, October 24, 1931 to the late Junior Lee and Rose Allie Woods Osborne. He was the oldest of twelve children; three of his sibling died of pneumonia at a young age: Guy Osborne, Ray Osborne and Faye Osborne. He married Marie Hodges in 1953 and they made their home in Lansing, NC. After 40 years of marriage, Marie passed away in 1993. In 1994, Jessie married Lenna Lewis Miller, after four years of marriage, she passed away. Jessie retired from Phoenix Chair Company in West Jefferson, where he worked in the Finishing Room. He was a kind man and a hard worker. He enjoyed fox hunting, coon hunting, gardening and relaxing on the porch taking in the beauty of the mountains and any wildlife that happed to pass by. Most of all, he loved his family and his greatest delight was spending time with them. He is survived by two sons Donald "Donnie" Osborne and wife, Martha, of West Jefferson and Danny Osborne and companion, Christine Fleenor, of West Jefferson; a daughter, Lesia Cox and husband, Tim, of Creston; a step son, Charlie Miller and wife, Donna, of Lansing; three brothers, Edd Osborne, of West Jefferson, Bud Osborne and wife, Wanda, of Lansing and Bill Osborne and wife, Robin, of Yadkinville; five sisters, Margaret "Tootsie" McCoy, of Creston, Pauline Lynch and husband, Arvie, of Lansing, Mary Lyalls and husband, R.H., of West Jefferson, Pearl Jones and husband, Clyde, of West Jefferson and Betty Severt and husband, Morris, of Sparta; seven grandchildren, SSG Preston Osborne and wife, Aimee, of Fort Wainwright, Alaska, Amanda Testerman and husband, James, of Crumpler, Adam Osborne and wife, Holly, of West Jefferson, Mike Blevins and wife, Reba, of Mountain City, TN, Tyler Cox, of Creston, Seth Osborne, of Boone, NC and Danielle Osborne, of West Jefferson; five great-grandchildren Doran Holman, McKenzie Osborne, Morgan Osborne, Hunter Blevins and James Osborne; two step grandchildren Brandon Miller, of Lansing and Trisha Green and husband, Chris, of Lansing, NC; four step great-grandchildren Nick Johnson, Katie Johnson, Zachary Walker and Kylee Green; several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be appreciated. The family will be meeting at the home Donnie and Martha Osborne at 1116 Elliott Road in West Jefferson.
